3SC players set to suspend strike

There are strong indications that the ongoing strike embarked upon by the players of  Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan may be called off  today as the state’s Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Barrister Abayomi Oke held talks with  the players.

The Shooting Stars will be guests of Warri Wolves on Sunday in a Match day 36 fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Tribunesport gathered that the commissioner met with the players in a swift reaction to put an end to the strike embarked upon by the players  three days ago. Tribunesports was also reliably informed that the matter was brought before the governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi on Thursday and from all indications, the issue maybe resolved as the governor has taken interest with a promise to look into the matter as soon as possible.

Oke, according to Tribunesports source, was more concerned about the welfare of the players, hence his decision to ensure that the players are paid so that it won’t affect the current position of the team on the table.

When contacted, Oke said that the matter would be resolved as soon as possible, adding that the state government would come up with an official statement on the matter in due course.

He said the government is more concerned about the welfare of the players and would do all within its capacity to make the players happy.

Warri Wolves,  it will be recalled, defeated 3Sc 2-1 in the first round of the league at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan.
