The 9th edition of the annual Elizabeth Adesola Akinjide Memorial golf tournament will hold on November 10 and 11 at Tiger Golf Club, Ibadan.
The annual event solely sponsored by the Akinjide dynasty is in memory of the late wife of the patriarch of the family, Chief Richard Akinjide (SAN).
Captain of TGC, Dr John Dongo, told Corporatesport that no fewer than 150 participants are expected in this year’s edition, saying that golf enthusiasts all over the country are always expecting the big four majors of the last quarter at Tiger Club, beginning with the memorial.
The big four, he stated, are Elizabeth Akinjide, NMR Intercontinental golf tournament (Frank Uwalaka), Ladies Open and Tiger Open golf championships.
Also, chairman LOC, Mr Wale Osungboun, disclosed that a cocktail party holds on Friday, November 10 at 7:00pm to welcome all participants, while the ceremonial tee-off is fixed for Saturday at 9:00am to be jointly performed by Chief Richard Akinjide and the Patron of Tiger Golf Club Maj-Gen. CM Abraham.
Also, chairman, publicity committee of the LOC, Col. Felix Obayan, said that prominent golfers who are going to feature in this year’s edition include Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Aliu Ahman Pategi, Alh. Jimada, Dapo Otunla, Barrister Salisu Ahmed and Mr Ibukun Fakeye, among others.
Meanwhile, Competition Secretary, Mr Muyiwa Laniyan, in a chat with Corporatesport promised all participants a swell time at this year’s edition of the memorial.
