Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits he has no idea what the board are doing as Marc Overmars is linked with job at the Emirates.
Wenger says he is in the dark about Overmars joining as director of football or if they are split over his future. And Wenger admits he is in the dark about what Stan Kroenke, Ivan Gazidis and the rest of the Arsenal hierarchy are going to do.
“Are they of one voice? I don’t know, honestly. I think what is happening in the boardroom is not down to me, I focus on what is important for me, the performance of the team.” Wenger said on SunSports
Former Gunners star Overmars is the man in the frame for the job, and the Dutchman has admitted the door is open to a return to north London. But any moves to bring in Overmars appear to have been made above the head of Wenger.
“I am not aware. I like Marc of course. He is director of football at Ajax. I am sure there are plenty of candidates to take care of Arsenal Football Club, I am not worried about that. We spend a lot of time to focus on things that are superficial.”
“The essential in football is to make sure there are good players on the football pitch, and that is what we have to take care of.” Wenger added.
