Nigerian stars land major collaborations
According to the tracklist released by FIFA Sound, the Nigerian artistes will feature alongside several internationally acclaimed performers across different tracks on the album.
Rema appears on Goals alongside Lisa and Anitta, while Davido features on No Place Like Home with Nelly Furtado and Major Lazer.
Ayra Starr teams up with Latto on Show Me, while Burna Boy joins Shakira on Dai Dai.
The album also features contributions from a wide range of global stars, including Future, Tyla, Daddy Yankee, Stormzy, 21 Savage and French Montana.
Growing global influence
The inclusion of four Nigerian artistes on the official World Cup soundtrack reflects the growing influence of Afrobeats and Nigerian music in global entertainment.
Davido’s return to a FIFA project is particularly notable after his appearance at the closing ceremony of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where he performed Hayya Hayya (Better Together) alongside Aisha and Trinidad Cardona.
Rema’s involvement also adds another milestone to his international rise, with the singer expected to perform Goals during activities surrounding the tournament’s opening celebrations.
Countdown to World Cup
The FIFA World Cup 2026 will run from June 11 to July 19 and will be the first edition of the competition to feature 48 teams.
A total of 104 matches will be played across the three host countries during the 39-day tournament.
Mexico will take on the South Africa national football team in the opening match at Estadio Azteca on June 11, while the final will be held at MetLife Stadium on July 19.
The official album is scheduled for release on June 5 across major streaming platforms and physical formats, providing the musical backdrop to what FIFA expects to be the biggest World Cup in the competition’s history.
