Former Barcelona star and Super Falcons striker, Asisat Oshoala, has lent her voice to calls for the release of pupils and teachers recently kidnapped in the Orire area of Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
The six-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year delivered the message during Nigeria’s international friendly against Senegal at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne on Friday.
After converting a penalty that gave the Super Falcons the lead, Oshoala displayed an inscription written on her wristband which read, “Save the Teachers – Bring Back Our Children.”
The gesture comes amid growing concern over the continued captivity of the abducted pupils and their teachers, who have remained in the kidnappers’ custody for several days.
Nigeria defeated Senegal in the first of two friendly matches arranged as part of both teams’ preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The two sides will meet again on Monday in the second fixture of the double-header.

The Super Falcons head into the tournament as defending champions, having secured their 10th continental title. Nigeria will be aiming for an 11th crown when the competition kicks off on July 26 and runs through August 16.
Coach Justin Madugu’s side has been drawn in a group alongside Egypt, Malawi, and Zambia, while Senegal will face hosts Morocco, Algeria, and Kenya in a challenging group-stage campaign.
