Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, has rejoined South African club Chippa United ahead of the 2026/27 season, five months after leaving the club.
The 30-year-old returns to the Chilli Boys after spending several months away from competitive football following the termination of his contract in February.
His absence from regular club action affected his place in Nigeria’s senior national team.
Chippa United confirmed Nwabali’s return on Sunday through its official social media channels.

“Chippa United Football Club is delighted to welcome Stanley Nwabali back to the Chilli Boys,” the club said.
In a follow-up statement, Chippa United added, “After taking time away, Stanley Nwabali returns to the Eastern Cape, and we are pleased to welcome him back to the club.”
Nwabali first joined Chippa United from Katsina United in 2022 and made 66 league appearances during his initial spell with the South African side.
The former Enyimba goalkeeper left the club in February after requesting the termination of his contract in pursuit of a move elsewhere. However, he was unable to secure a transfer and has now returned to the Eastern Cape outfit.
Nwabali rose to international prominence with his impressive displays for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, where the Super Eagles finished as runners-up.
His lack of club football in recent months affected his playing time and saw him lose his place in the national team.
The goalkeeper will now look to rebuild his career with consistent first-team football at Chippa United as he aims to regain his place in the Super Eagles squad ahead of Nigeria’s upcoming international fixtures.
