Spain winger, Lamine Yamal, has described Spain and France as the two strongest teams at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting La Roja have what it takes to reach the final.
Speaking on Monday ahead of Tuesday’s semi-final, the Barcelona star said Spain are not intimidated by Didier Deschamps’ side despite France’s impressive run in the tournament.
“Ever since the tournament got underway, many people have been hoping for this match,” Yamal said.
“For me, these are the two best teams at this World Cup. We’re not afraid. If anyone can beat France, it’s us.”
Spain have been one of the standout teams at the tournament, booking their place in the last four after eliminating Belgium in the quarter-finals.

France also progressed to the semi-finals with victory over Morocco, setting up one of the tournament’s biggest fixtures between two of the pre-competition favourites.
Spain are chasing a second FIFA World Cup title after their triumph in 2010, while France are seeking a third crown, having previously won the competition in 1998 and 2018.
The winner of Tuesday’s encounter will advance to the World Cup final to face the victor of the other semi-final.
