Fast-rising Nigerian football academy, Stars Builders Football Academy, has entered into a partnership with Greenpeg Engineering ahead of the 2026/27 football season.
The agreement was officially announced on Friday during a ceremony at the Greenpeg Engineering headquarters in Lagos, with both organisations expressing optimism that the collaboration would accelerate the academy’s growth and strengthen youth development.

Speaking at the event, Managing Director of Greenpeg Engineering, Bolaji Adekunle, said the partnership aligns with the company’s commitment to empowering young talents.
“We are excited about this partnership with Stars Builders. There is an intersection between engineering and football. We have an academy where we train young school leavers and professionals, preparing them for the industry and helping them build meaningful careers. What Stars Builders are doing is not entirely different from that, making this partnership a natural fit from an impact perspective,” Adekunle said.
Greenpeg Engineering is a diversified engineering company known for procuring industrial components, providing maintenance services and delivering bespoke industrial systems. The company has played a key role in Africa’s industrial sector for more than 15 years.
Stars Builders Chief Executive Officer, Ayodeji Adegbenro, described the agreement as a significant milestone in the academy’s journey.
“We have been trying our best, and along the line, we realised we needed partners who could help us grow. Thankfully, Greenpeg came along. This relationship actually began about 25 years ago in a hostel room at FUTA, even though we are only signing the papers now. Our values align, and Greenpeg is the perfect partner to accompany us on this journey. We hope this marks the beginning of a beautiful and long-term relationship,” he said.
Adegbenro added that the academy remains committed to sustainable development as it targets promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in the coming years.
“We want our growth to be organic, which is why we have remained in the Nationwide League One (NLO) for now. Hopefully, in a few years, we will be competing in the NPFL against clubs like Enyimba and Sporting Lagos.”
Founded in 2021, Stars Builders have enjoyed remarkable progress in grassroots football. The academy won the Ogun State League in its debut campaign in 2022 before securing successive promotions to reach the Nationwide League One (NLO), Nigeria’s third-tier league.
The academy has also produced players for Nigeria’s youth national teams, including Segun Otusanya, who featured for the Flying Eagles under former coach Ladan Bosso. Other graduates, such as Suleiman Shehu and Ayodele Adeloye, have also secured moves abroad.
The ceremony was attended by Greenpeg Engineering Managing Director Bolaji Adekunle, Stars Builders Chairman Kayode Momoh, CEO Ayodeji Adegbenro and Head Coach Jimmy Bello.
The event also featured the unveiling of Stars Builders’ home and away kits for the 2026/27 season, with Greenpeg Engineering confirmed as the academy’s new front-of-shirt sponsor.
