The former Wikki Tourist manager is on the brink of joining the Promise Keepers, and has explained his reasoning behind the move
Abdu Maikaba has confirmed that he will sign a contract to take over at Akwa United this week.
Despite leading Wikki to a third place finish in the 2016 NPFL campaign, Maikaba has moved on and is now joining Akwa United.
“We have agreed on personal terms but I will be in Uyo on Wednesday to sign the contract,” Maikaba told Goal.
“Akwa United is an ambitious club but that hasn’t reflect in their performances especially if you check the last five previous seasons- they alwys finished below the middle of the table. For a club with so much desire to be successful, such performance may not be encouraging.
“I hope to go there to see if i can do better than their previous performances and hopefully achieve their set targets.
“It was a no brainier for me when Akwa United approached me but i believe that with the necessary support we can achieve more.”
