Director of Football, Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC of Ilorin, Alloy Chukwuemeka has said his team will do everything humanly possible to maintain their unbeaten run in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) when they face Lobi Stars today.
The match day 4 fixture holds at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi, as the NPFL returnees are second on the table with seven points after three games.
“We will do everything to extend our unbeatean run this season because we are going to Makurdi to claim the maximum points.
“We have an advantage in the match even as an away team because fatigue could affect Lobi Stars who certainly returned to their base on Monday after the away game to MFM FC in Lagos.
“So, it is a source of relief that we left Ilorin for the match and we are happy that we would overcome jetlag. We want to make our fans happy.
“At least we want to extend the unbeaten run to 10 games because this is not the first time we are doing that, we want to make history this season,” ACC, as he is fondly called told Tribunesport.
“These boys have shown great determination to win matches, beating FC IfeanyiUbah is not an easy task considering they walloped a team 4-0 before coming to Ilorin. Also, we defeated Akwa United that boast a number of established players, so that is a boost for our team.
“ABS are a modest team with young boys who are willing to make names. I think the motivation has to do with prompt payment of salaries, bonuses and as well making their welfare the ultimate goal.”
Also, Welfare Officer of ABS, Ahmed Abdallah, believes tradition favours his team to remain unbeaten in early matches of the season.
“We were unbeaten in seven games during our first campaign in the topflight five years ago and we are hoping to sustain this tradition. It’s a form of motivation to our players too and they were in high spirits before leaving for Makurdi,” Abdallah said.
Meanwhile, Lobi Stars’ Team Manager, Barnabas Imenger, says his men are battle-ready to make up for the loss to MFM when when they face the Saraki Boys today.
“We have been wounded and a wounded lion always fights back, ABS should expect a good fight.
“Our fans are not happy over our results, and to make them happy, we must beat ABS with lot of goals.
“We have to make necessary correction from our last game and hopefully, we will carry the day by God’s grace,” the ex-Nigeria international said.
