AC Milan chairman confirms Costa talks

Koke says that Atletico's players are keen to see Diego Costa return to the club.

The Serie A side’s chairman Marco Fassone has confirmed that he has spoken to Diego Costa’s agent Jorge Mendes over a potential move.

The Spain international was recently filmed training alone on a beach in Brazil after having been left out of Chelsea’s pre-season tour squad.

‘Sky Sports News’ reports that Milan have met with Costa’s agent with Milan chairman Fassone describing the striker as ‘a great player’.

Fassone told ‘Sky Sports News’: “I would prefer to avoid talking about players from other teams; Diego Costa is a great player, but a Chelsea player.”

“We went to see Jorge Mendes; there is a lot you can talk to him about. Costa is a great player but he is of Chelsea. That’s all.”

It it believed that the meeting with Jorge Mendes may have been the same one during which a move for Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo was discussed, with the Italian giants considering a sensation swoop for the Portuguese.

Costa was Chelsea’s top scorer last season but is free to move on this summer following the arrival of Alvaro Morata.
