Chelsea have put Alejandro Garnacho up for sale after just one season at Stamford Bridge, with the winger left out of the club’s pre-season preparations as they seek a permanent transfer.

The 21-year-old did not report for pre-season training at Cobham on Thursday alongside first-team players not involved at the FIFA World Cup, as Chelsea continue to work on his departure.

The move follows an underwhelming campaign after Garnacho joined the Blues from Manchester United in a £40 million deal on a seven-year contract.

Chelsea seek permanent transfer

Chelsea are understood to value Garnacho at around £43 million (€50 million) and are only prepared to consider permanent offers despite reported loan interest from Serie A side Roma.

Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, wrote on X, “Understand Chelsea value Garnacho at €50m for clubs abroad and £45m for PL clubs.

“#CFC ready to let him leave on permanent deal this summer.

“Garnacho is NOT training under Xabi Alonso as Chelsea work closely with his camp to find a solution on exit, same as Andrey Santos.”

Premier League clubs, teams across Europe and clubs in Saudi Arabia are also reported to be interested, with discussions progressing. Manchester United are entitled to 10 per cent of any future transfer fee.

Difficult first season

Garnacho struggled to establish himself during his first season at Chelsea.

He scored one Premier League goal in 24 appearances, 10 of which came as a substitute, and found regular starting opportunities limited under Enzo Maresca before Liam Rosenior took charge.

His expected departure forms part of Chelsea’s squad overhaul under new manager Xabi Alonso.

Chelsea continue squad rebuild

Chelsea have strengthened their squad with the arrivals of full-back Marco Palestra from Atalanta for £47 million and winger Geovany Quenda from Sporting for £40 million.

The club have also sanctioned the departures of left-back Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid for £52 million and winger Tyrique George to Everton in a deal that could rise to £24 million.

Further changes are expected before the transfer window closes.

Chelsea remain in the market for a central defender, with Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix among their reported targets, while Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarria is also in talks over a move to west London.

Defender Trevoh Chalobah could also leave, with his representatives exploring potential moves to Italian clubs Inter Milan and Como.

Chelsea finished 10th in the Premier League last season and are preparing for a pre-season tour of Australia and Asia later this month.
