Brazil and Germany continue to lead the highest-scoring countries at the World Cup despite their early exits from the 2026 tournament, according to updated FIFA statistics released after the quarter-finals.
Five-time world champions Brazil remain the competition’s highest-scoring countries with 247 goals in 119 matches, while four-time winners Germany are second with 243 goals from 116 games.
Although Brazil were eliminated by Norway in the Round of 16 and Germany exited in the Round of 32, their long history of success at the World Cup has kept them ahead of the chasing pack.
Argentina, France remain in pursuit
Defending champions Argentina occupy third place with 166 goals, followed by France on 152. Italy complete the top five with 128 goals despite failing to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
Several of the leading nations remain in contention at the ongoing tournament and could further improve their records.
