Aguero hope to start against Wolves

Pep Guardiola says Sergio Aguero could return for Manchester City’s home clash with Wolves on Monday evening.

The Argentina international sat out the last two cup ties against Rotherham United and Burton Albion respectively due to illness and Guardiola has revealed the striker could be involved after recently returning to training.

Captain Vincent Kompany has also recovered from a nagging muscle problem picked up in the 2-1 win against Liverpool and he is expected to be included in the match-day squad at least.

Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho is poised to return to the squad after being rested for cup wins but Benjamin Mendy and Claudio Bravo remain long-term absentees for the Citizens.

Guardiola’s men will be looking to close the gap to the table-topping Reds to four points after Jurgen Klopp’s side extended their Premier League lead on Saturday with a 1-0 win at Brighton.
