Rabiot must stay says Silva

Thiago Silva says Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have to do everything possible to ensure that Adrien Rabiot stays in the French capital.

Rabiot seems destined for the exit door following a bitter contract dispute with PSG and Barcelona are among the clubs keen to do a deal for the playmaker.

An amicable agreement looks unlikely at this stage, but Silva says Rabiot is ‘essential’ for the club and everything must be done to keep him.

“It’s up to the coach and the club to talk to Adrien,” the Brazilian has been quoted as saying. ‘They have to find an agreement, find something that is important for Adrien and for the club.

“I don’t want to get into this, but of course he’s an essential player for the whole team.

“If he leaves, if he decides to leave, you have to respect it, but for me he will become an essential player for any team.”
