Alexis Sanchez wants big pay rise to sign new Arsenal contract

Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez is reportedly demanding an extra £35,000 per week to sign a new contract at the Emirates Stadium.

The Chile international has been one of the team’s top performers since he joined from Barcelona back in 2014, but his future is now in some doubt after lengthy negotiations over a new deal.

Arsenal tried and failed to tie both Sanchez and Mesut Ozil down to new contracts over the summer, but made little progress, and reports now claim wages could be an issue.

Sanchez, 27, is already one of the club’s highest earners on £140,000 per week, but wants that raised to £175,000, according to the Daily Mirror.

Arsenal are not known for being one of Europe’s biggest spenders in terms of transfer fees or wages, but fans will be desperate to see a player of Sanchez’s quality kept on.

The versatile forward was on hand to net a vital equaliser for Arsenal in their 1-1 draw at Paris Saint-Germain in Tuesday night’s Champions League clash.
