All set for Bright Future Cycling competition

All is set for the fourth edition of Asiwajuniwa Cycling racing event schedule for this weekend between September 25 and 27 in Ibadan.

The tournament which is tagged “Discovery New Talent and sponsored by Orchard Hotels and Boff and Company Insurance Broker with the support of Oyo State Sports Council.

According to Oyo State Cycling Coach, Oluwaseyi Akinola, the aim of the competition was to prepare for the forthcoming national Festival in Edo State later in the year and promote unity among cyclist in the state.

The three-day event is open to Age 8-12; 13-16; 17-23 and Professional race for both male and female.

“We want to let people know that we have talents and new cyclists in Oyo State that ride in rural and urban areas of the state.

“The tournament will serve as qualifier for Oyo State cyclists ahead of Edo 2020 Sports Festival because the winner will definitely represent the state.

“Four clubs have shown interest of participation likewise cyclists from Lagos, Kwara and Ogun State.”

The event will see the arrival of athletes and pre-race meeting on Friday, September 25 while awareness race is scheduled for Saturday and the main event will hold on Sunday.

The starting point is from Oando filling station to Eleyele round about, proceed to sango to Mokola, dugbe, jericho and finish at Eleyele Police headquarter.

The road race with distances of 15km -70km.

The closing ceremony and presentation of prizes will hold at Orchard Hotels, Onireke GRA, Ibadan on Sunday.
