Alves an idiot and a poor example of a right-back ―Maradona

Diego Maradona has sensationally branded Juventus’ Dani Alves and idiot and a poor excuse for a full-back after the Brazilian criticised his ‘Hand of God’ goal.

Diego Maradona has hit back after Dani Alves criticised his ‘Hand of God’ goal against England in 1986.

In an interview with ‘Esporte Interativo’, Alves was asked to compare Messi and Maradona, to which he replied that “you can’t” before adding that he “would not be proud to have won a World Cup with a ‘Hand of God'”. Alves then went on to say that Maradona “can’t be an example for youngsters.”

Maradona labelled the former Barcelona defender an “idiot” and said that he was a “poor excuse for a right-back” before declaring that players that play in his position cannot be expected to know much about the game.

The verbal assault came during an interview with ‘TyC Sports’, during which he stated that Alves “makes 28 passes and only gets four right”, before criticising right-backs for “playing in a position on the pitch where football isn’t played” stating that “they touch the ball three times and make eight fouls per game”.

Reports in the national and international press continue to link Alves with a move to Manchester City.
