Lagos State governor: Mr Akinwunmi Ambode
Lagos state government has approved the renovation of the Onikan Stadium after many years the edifice has been in a bad state.
Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Lagos state, Deji Tinubu disclosed this through his twitter handle on Tuesday.
Tinubu, who is also the Special Assistant to Lagos state Governor on Sports tweets: “Akinwunmi Ambode has approved the reconstruction of the Onikan Stadium.”
He added that contractors have already moved to the site adding that the job will be completed and handed over to the state government in 12 months.
“This is a welcome development as it will not only bring back life to Onikan [Stadium] it will help in the development of the game in the state as we expect to have a new stadium that will meet the yearnings of football buffs in the state and its environs. And we hope to that the contractors will hand over the brand new stadium in twelve months,” Tinubu further stated.
