Fatai Amoo, 3SC coach
HEAD coach of the Shooting Stars, Fatai Amoo, has asked his players to sustain the tempo following an emphatic 2-0 win over Lobi Stars in one of the Week 1 fixtures of the Nigerian Premier Football League played at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan.
Shooting Stars’ new signings, Afolabi Waheed (22 minutes) and substitute Sunday Faleye (66 minutes) scored in each half to put smiles on the faces of the fans who turned out enmasse to cheer the home team.
In fact, Faleye scored one minute after his introduction to the game, earning him accolades from the crowd.
“I give kudos to my players, they made use of two of the scoring chances that came their way but it can be better,’’ Amoo said at the post-match briefing.
“We need to show more hunger knowing well we didn’t do too well last season. This is just the Week One, we have 38 games to play, so it is still a long way.”
Lobi Stars’ chief coach, Evans Ogenyi, said there was no way his side could have won the game after squandering chances.
‘The 3SC deserved to win, I congratulate them,’’ he added
