Amuneke quits Sudanese club Al Khartoum Watani

Coach Emmanuel Amuneke has told SCORENigeria he has parted ways with Sudanese club Al Khartoum Watani, who demanded he takes a pay slash because they are struggling with their finances.

“I met with the club director that they are facing a financial crisis and that was why both players and coaches have not been paid for the past two months,” he said.

“He asked that we take a pay cut, but of course that is not possible when you don’t know when the next salary will be paid.

“We therefore concluded that the best option was for both parties to end this agreement and for them to pay us what they owe us.”

Former Nigeria assistant coach Amuneke further explained the financial crisis facing the club.

“This team is attached to the security department of Sudan and the man in charge of this department was changed in January and all the documents the team submitted for their budget have not been approved as a result,” he said.

“So, the team are struggling to pay both players and coaches.

“The director was plain and open to tell me what they are going through, they cannot meet up their financial obligations.”

Under Amuneke, Watani recorded 11 points in eight games and are second in their abridged section of the Sudanese top-flight league by the first round.
