Andy Murray new world No.1 after Milos Raonic withdraws from Paris Masters

ANDY MURRAY is the new world number one after Milos Raonic pulled out of the Paris Masters.

The two were meant to meet in the semi-finals of the tournament but the Canadian has withdrawn through injury.

Raonic has a quadricep problem and is now a doubt for the season-ending tour finals at the O2 Arena.

He confirmed the injury in a press conference saying: “I have a tear in my right quad.”

Murray becomes the first Brit ever to become world number one and ends Novak Djokovic’s 122 weeks at the top of the rankings.

The Scot has been imperious in 2016, winning Wimbledon, Olympic gold and four other titles and losing just three matches in the process.

Murray sets a record for the most time between becoming number two and number one, having first reached number two way back in 2009.
