Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger drops major hint about England job

The Frenchman is celebrating 20 years in charge of Arsenal this week as he prepares his side to take on Burnley this weekend.

Following the embarrassing end to Sam Allardyce’s 67-day England tenure, Wenger has been heavily linked with the Three Lions role and the 66-year-old is ruling nothing out.

He said: “My priority is to do well here this has always been my club but one day if I am free, why not, but at the moment I was focussed on my job.”

Wenger was then asked if he would decide his future at the end of the season, replying: “Yes.”

Wenger’s contract expires in the summer and the FA are looking to appoint him after the Premier League campaign finishes with Gareth Southgate in temporary charge.

While his future is yet to be decided, Wenger says he still has plenty to give in his career as he toasts two decades in charge of the Gunners.

He added: “It’s certainly unusual in the modern world.

“I think stability is very important as well in a company and the values, people who cary the values.

“For me a big club is first about values and its identity and the privilege I have to carry these values is very unusual in the modern game.

“I have a passion for the game and I have always a desire to improve.

“If you look back the way I manage today is very different to five years ago.

“I accept that it can finish tomorrow, it’s a love story you expect it to last forever but it can end any day.”

Arsenal travel to Burnley for Sunday’s late game hoping to their fifth straight win in the Premier League.
