Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun says he ‘definitely won’t go on loan again’

Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun has firmly stated that he will not be going out on loan again.

The talented 21-year-old, who recently switched his international allegiance from England to the United States, made this declaration after his significant role in helping the USA secure victory in the Concacaf Nations League.

Balogun, who had an impressive loan spell at Ligue 1 club Reims where he scored 21 goals, further solidified his impact by finding the back of the net in his second appearance for the USA, sealing a 2-0 triumph against Canada on Sunday.

“I’m not sure [about] the discussions that are going to take place,” he said.

“I’m not sure what’s going to happen. But I’m just committed to now; I try to stay present. I obviously want to enjoy the moment with my team and my family.

“What I can say is that I definitely won’t go on loan again.”

Folarin Balogun, who was born in New York, signed a four-year contract with Arsenal in 2021. However, he has had limited opportunities in the Premier League, making only two appearances since his senior debut in 2020. In the 2021-22 season, Balogun went on loan to Middlesbrough in the Championship and later joined French club Reims on loan in August 2022.

At Arsenal, Gabriel Jesus has been the preferred choice as the center-forward since his arrival from Manchester City last summer. Eddie Nketiah has filled in when Gabriel Jesus was sidelined for over three months due to a knee injury.

In the ongoing transfer discussions, Arsenal is reportedly in talks to secure the signing of Chelsea forward Kai Havertz during the summer.

Balogun’s performances have garnered interest from clubs such as Inter Milan, AC Milan, and some Premier League teams, indicating potential future moves.

As for the United States national team, they successfully defended their title in the CONCACAF Nations League, winning the tournament in Las Vegas. Chris Richards scored in the 12th minute, and Balogun added to the scoreline with a goal in the 34th minute.

“It’s amazing. It’s a dream scenario for me,” said Balogun.

“To be here now, the transition is amazing. I’m just overwhelmed with delight.“
