According to the aforementioned source, Costa could be presented to the Atletico faithful before Wednesday. Why this date? On Wednesday, Diego Simeone’s side will face Chelsea and Los Rojiblancos want do it with the Brazilian striker already officially announced as their player.

The 28-year-old won’t be able to feature for Atletico until January because of a FIFA sanction, but the club want to confirm his signing beforehand, and what better time to do it than before the clash with his former club Chelsea?

‘The Sun’ have suggested that a presentation on Wednesday could give the supporters at the Wanda Metropolitano an extra boost ahead of the crucial Champions League tie.

It remains to be seen whether the English newspaper is right and Costa will in fact be unveiled as an Atletico player before the Champions League clash.
