Awoniyi ends Bundesliga season with brace

Nigeria star, Taiwo Awoniyi, on Saturday scored a brace as Union Berlin claimed a 3-2 win over Bochum in their last Bundesliga game of the season.

After Grischa Promel scored the opening goal of the match in the fifth minute in favour of Berlin, Awoniyi added the second in the 25th minute.

Bochum scored their second in the 55th minute through Simon Zoller before equalizing in the 79th minute through Eduard Lowen.

Awoniyi scored the vital goal in the 88th minute to make sure Berlin – with 57 points and fifth on the log – ended the season on a winning note.

The former Liverpool signing ended the season with 13 goals from 34 appearances.

Meanwhile, the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup winner made a debut for the Super Eagles last October in a World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde in Lagos under sacked German tactician Gernot Rohr.

He later made the squad to the 33rd Africa Cup of Nations held in January/February this year in Cameroon where he also scored in the 3-1 victory over Sudan in a group game.
