The Presiding Justice, Court of Appeal, Ibadan division, Justice M.B. Dongban-Mensem has advised women to embrace golf in their bid to develop physically and mentally.
She made the admonition during the ceremonial tee off of the second edition of the Bar and Bench golf open on Saturday, at the Ibadan Golf Club (IGC).
Represented by Honourable Justice Modupe Fasanmi JCA, Dongban-Mensem stated that golf remains one of the best sporting activities that one can engaged with adding that it help ones to keep fit.
Also present at the tee off were the Captain of IGC, Barrister Idowu Salami, Justice Haruna Tsammami and Justice Noyerem Okonkwo, among others.
Salami in his remarks said he was excited by the turn out of participants for the two-day tourney.
“You can see that we have about 170 golfers across the country featuring in this tournament. The tournament is not restricted to legal practitioners alone.
“It is a good thing lawyers should also have time to relax and golf is also sharing the same characteristics with law, because it is a game of integrity and lawyers too deal with a profession that deal with integrity.
“Logistics have been put in place to make the two-day event a memorable one. Lawyers and judges would compete in different categories at the tourney alongside other amateur golfers,” Salami stated.
He further disclosed that the major sponsor of the Open was a former president of the Nigeria Bar Association, Oyo State chapter and the governor of Ondo State, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, adding that “we also have RwandAir and Air France tickets for the winners.”
The tournament would also tee off today at 6:30am while the presentation of prizes is slated for 6:00pm also today at the same venue.
