The Bauchi State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Hon. Adamu Babayo Gabarin, has commended the coaches and players of Wikki Tourists for picking one of the tickets to the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).
Wikki Tourists outplayed Yobe Desert Stars by 4-0 in Match Day 3 of the ongoing NNL Super 8 to book a ticket from the Northern Conference alongside Barau FC of Kano and Gabarin, who watched the match at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, said they deserve all the commendation for coming back to the country’s top-flight football.
“On behalf of the government and people of Bauchi State, I want to congratulate Coach Maikaba and his players for doing the state proud. You know that the NPFL is where the team rightly belongs, and coming back is worth celebrating.
The commissioner, while charging the team to go for the NNL trophy on Saturday against Warri Wolves, assured that the state government will support the team financially in their campaign in the NPFL next season.
According to him, the state is going to rebrand the team and take some measures that will ensure it consolidates in the premier league.
“With the team now back in the elite league where it rightly belongs, I want to assure you that the era of not staying long in the elite league will be a thing of the past.
“The state government is going to rebrand the team and soon come out with some measures that will ensure the pride of Bauchi consolidates its stay in the NPFL,” the commissioner noted.
