Reigning 100m women’s hurdles world champion, Tobi Amusan, on Tuesday, made Nigeria proud as she qualified for the semi-finals stage at the ongoing 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
Amusan finished first in Heat five with a time of 12.48secs to land in the final.
The Commonwealth champion outshines the likes of Mega Tapper from Jamaica who finished in 12.51secs, Michelle Janneke from Australia, 12.71secs and Natalia Chritofi, who finished in 12:90secs.
It will be recalled that the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) dropped her name from the country’s contingent to Budapest 2023, following her suspension by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), for her failure to attend three whereabouts [tests] within 12 months.
The 26-year-old sprinter was eventually cleared last Thursday by a panel of the Disciplinary Tribunal to compete in the championship; as it ruled that: “Tobi Amusan has not committed an Anti- Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) of three Whereabouts Failures within a 12-month period.”
Recall Amusan at the last World Championships, Oregon 2022 won the gold in a world record time of 12.12secs.
