Daniel Amokachi
President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed former Super Eagles forward and assistant coach, Daniel Amokachi, as Nigeria’s Football Ambassador.
A statement issued by Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President (Media & Publicity) in Abuja on Tuesday explained that as Nigeria’s Football Ambassador – a largely ceremonial role – Amokachi will assist the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development to scout for talents, be part of processes to revive the country’s football development, as well as mentor young sports men and women.
The statement recalled that Amokachi, a member of the 1994 Super Eagles squad that won the African Nations Cup (AFCON) in Tunisia, also won the soccer gold at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics with Nigeria’s U23 team known as Dream Team I.

Meanwhile, Amokachi, also on Tuesday told Sports Radio Brila FM that Sunday Oliseh and Emmanuel Amuneke have the class to handle the Super Eagles.
“Oliseh is the best coach in Nigeria as at today – He knows the game, someone like that should be given the chance.
“Amuneke is another top coach who knows the job so well, they should get the chance, although, I won’t turn down a chance as well because I know I’m such a sexy coach!”
