Burnley boss Vincent Kompany keeps mum on Chelsea links

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has declined to comment on reports linking him to the vacant managerial role at Chelsea.

Kompany has had an impressive season with Burnley, leading them back to the Premier League in his first year in charge, and is believed to be one of the three candidates on Chelsea’s shortlist, alongside Mauricio Pochettino and an unnamed third manager.

There have also been reports suggesting that Celtic’s Ange Postecoglou is a potential outsider for the role.

Despite the speculation, Kompany has refused to engage in any discussions about the possibility of managing Chelsea. He has taken a similar approach to previous rumours linking him with Tottenham.

It remains to be seen who will be chosen as Chelsea’s next permanent manager, but the club is known for its high standards and expectations, and whoever takes on the role will have a tough task ahead of them.

“I said I’m not engaging on any of these conversations,” he said.

“I have too much at this moment in time in my head in terms of wanting to win football matches. That’s the only thing I care about.”

Former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann was a leading contender for the Chelsea job before surprisingly withdrawing his interest, leaving Kompany and two others on the list.
