Cameroon can’t boast over Eagles — Broos, afcon-winning coach

CAMEROON coach, Hugo Broos thinks it will be suicidal  to assume the Indomitable Lions will beat the Super Eagles in August double header Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier.

Broos who handled the Lions to their fifth Afcon trophy told Spectrum Television during the reception for the Lions in Yaounde that the Eagles were a different kettle of fish.

‘Honestly, this is the kind of questions I don’t like to answer. We beat Senegal, Ghana and Egypt at the Nations Cup but these are not Nigeria. The simple way to think is that though we are the Africa champions, one-on one, Nigeria are better in the campaign to Russia-they have six points and we have two in the same group. That is a point we have to take home’’

The Belgian added that he informed his players to enjoy the moment of Afcon glory but in the next two weeks expect calls from him to know what plans the team has for the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

“As African champions, we must be proud and secure what is next, the games against Nigeria mean a lot to the two countries and it is important to get a good preparation. We don’t want to be taken aback that is why we are involving everybody, I will be calling my players in the next two weeks and get their opinions” Broos said.

The Belgian added that he would continue to look for addition to the squad he has until he gets the Indomitable Lions of his dream.

“The challenge is higher now, we have to try and cope, we need to look for areas where we can get better.’’
