THE Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on Sunday night in Libreville, Gabon, won the Africa Nations Cup title for the fifth time by beating favourites, the Pharaohs of Egypt 2-1.
The win gave the Lions a fifth glory having won the title previously in 1984, 1988, 2000 and 2002.
Cameroon, in spite of the credentials, arrived Gabon as underdogs following the withdrawal of eight of their experienced players but on Sunday braved the odds and went all the way to the final and earned the title.
Arsenal’s Mohammed Elneny gave the Pharaohs the lead on the 22nd minute but the Lions came back stronger in the second half and were rewarded in the 59th minute by a header by Nicolas Nkolou who was playing his first game of the competition after coming in for injured Teikeu
Another substitute, Vincent Aboubakar won the cup for the Lions when he netted the winner in the 88th minute.
