Cape Verde 0-2 Burkina Faso: Away win moves Stallions top of Group D

A goal each from Banou Diawara and Prejuce Nakoulma saw the visitors to victory in Praia to leap to the top of the table

Burkina Faso defeated Cape Verde 2-0 in Praia on Saturday evening to move top of Group D above South Africa on goals difference in 2018 World Cup qualifying.

The Stallions got first half goals from Banou Diawara and Prejuce Nakoulma to pick the three points on offer.

Cape Verde, surprise items in Cup of Nations qualifiers, were unable to get their first point of the campaign for Russia 2018 at home and remain at the boom of the Group.

The Stallions’ victory changed the order of the group by moving them top despite South Africa’s 2-1 win at home over Senegal in the group’s other game.

Burkina Faso are tied on top with four points but have a higher goals difference than Bafana Bafana with Senegal in third place with three points.
