Chelsea defeat embarrassing for Sarri, says Shearer

Alan Shearer has opened fire on Maurizio Sarri and called Chelsea’s display against Bournemouth embarrassing.

The Blues were humbled by the Cherries, losing 4-0 at the Vitality Stadium as Joshua King scored a brace against the Italian’s side.

Gonzalo Higuain made his Premier League debut but didn’t even manage to register a shot on target before he was withdrawn on 65 minutes.

The result sees Chelsea slip to fifth in the Premier League table and out of the Champions League places.

Sarri kept his players in the away changing for over an hour following the defeat and once again admitted that he’s struggling to motivate his stars.

“That was an embarrassing defeat for him and embarrassing performance,” Shearer said on Match of the Day.

“When your backs are against the wall, you are looking at your team saying ‘come on, give us something”.

“He’s looking at his team again tonight, for the second successive league game.

“He’s come out again tonight saying he’s finding it difficult to motivate these players. Well that is his job to motivate these players.

“He’s now got his man in, in (Gonzalo) Higuain, so it has to improve and they now find themselves outside of the top four. It’s got to improve, massively.”
