Chelsea must earn Champions League spot ―Hazard

Belgium forward Eden Hazard is trying to find positives in Chelsea’s troubled season and says the club cannot afford to miss out on a Champions League spot this season.

There has been a huge sense of frustration Chelsea following Sunday’s 1-1 draw at home to West Ham United given the fact Hazard and his gang had dominated the game for long spells. Chelsea recorded 23 shots on goal, 18 more than the visitors, but were unable to add to the lead which was courtesy of Cesar Azpilicueta’s strike before Javier Hernandez equalised in the second half.

“I hope, for the Chelsea fans and ourselves, that we can achieve something,’ said the Belgian.

“We still have the FA Cup to play for so we need to bring this trophy to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

“When you play for Chelsea you want to be in the Champions League every year but last year we didn’t play in it and we won the title, so sometimes a bad thing can create a good thing, but we will play [to try to qualify] for the Champions League, for sure.” Hazard told Chelsea’s official website

Sunday’s result left Chelsea ten points behind fourth-placed Tottenham in the Premier League table, but Hazard explained believes there is still plenty to play for between now and the end of the campaign.
