Chelsea are ready to make a bid for unsettled Manchester United forward Anthony Martial, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The report claims the Blues, who are fearful of losing Eden Hazard to Real Madrid this summer, are “among the clubs taking a keen interest in Anthony Martial’s situation at Manchester United”.
Frenchman Martial, who can play anywhere across the forward line, is under contract until 2019 with the option of a further year, but he has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford.
The 22-year-old has made 21 Premier League and Champions League starts this season, but he is believed to be looking for more game time and could quit United this summer with Juventus and Tottenham understood to have registered an interest in him.
Last month The Sunday Times claimed Mourinho had told Martial he won’t stand in his way if he wants to leave Old Trafford this summer.
The former Monaco forward – once the world’s most expensive teenager – has been reduced to a bit-part role this season, with the January arrival of Alexis Sanchez pushing him further down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
Chelsea are looking to transform their squad this summer, but if they miss out on the Champions League they will be missing out on a potential £70million payday and so they will have to sell players to stay within Financial Fair Play rules.
