City just going to try ―Guardiola

Pep Guardiola admits that Manchester City have to play the ‘perfect game’ if they are to pull off a huge Champions League surprise.

The Blues head into the second leg of their quarter-final tie with Liverpool 3-0 down and needing miracle to keep intact the dream of reaching the Kiev final.

But Guardiola clearly still feels that City can produce an amazing comeback, even after the morale-damaging derby defeat by Manchester United at the weekend.

“Of course, to go through you have to make the perfect game – create chances, be clinical, and concede few chances,” he told a pre-match press conference on Monday.

“All the conditions have to be perfect. The result is tough but we have 90 minutes and in football everything can happen.

“What we are going to do is try. We have to score the first one, then make the second one. We’ll see the momentum, try to keep it longer and then we’ll see.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool manager, Mohamed Salah says he is not sure whether Mohamed Salah will play but is hopeful the Egyptian will be fit.

The Egyptian was not among the squad in Saturday’s Merseyside derby owing to the groin injury he picked up during the first-leg win over Man City last week.

Speaking at his pre-match news conference on Monday, Klopp said: “Not sure, 100 percent. Yesterday (On Sunday) he was with the athletic coach in training”.
