Pep Guardiola’s summer transfer kitty could top £150m in a bid to cement this season’s Premier League supremacy.
The Manchester City boss spoke with Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak at the club’s title party for staff and players on Sunday night in the city centre.
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach has already warned his squad against complacency next term and wants two world-class players to now supplement it, with a midfielder and wide forward the top of his wish list.
Bayern Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey and Napoli holder Jorginho are understood to be two stars Pep feels can help his side to kick on again.
Those two would cost in the combined region or £120m, but City’s Abu Dhabi backers have assured their manager that there are extra funds available if he needs them, such is their admiration and trust for the job he is doing at the Etihad.
Guardiola, who also landed the League Cup this year, stated in his most recent programme notes: “In football you never rest on your laurels.
“Business is never, ever finished. If you don’t improve then you are going backwards.
“Always you can look to do something better and to achieve something new – that’s our philosophy.”
