Cristiano Ronaldo has boldly claimed he can keep playing until he’s 41-years-old.
Real Madrid raised eyebrows this week by handing the 31-year-old forward a five-year contract reportedly worth around £365,000. Considering his age it was seen by some as a risky move by the Champions League holders.
But not Ronaldo. He reckons he’ll be going strong for at least twice the length of his new contract.
‘What I most want is to continue enjoying the years I have left to play. I still have 10 years,’ the Portugal international boldly claimed.
Despite his advancing years Ronaldo is still banging in the goals with a return of 12 from 14 matches across club and country this season.
He continued: ‘I’m going to be here for another five years, but let it be known this will not be my last contract.
‘I have said many times that I carry this club in my heart, it is part of me and it is a special time in my life.
‘Of course I would like to end my career at this club, this is my penultimate contract, I want to be here for many years to come.
‘I want to continue re-writing history at this club.’
