Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Eberechi Eze from Queen Park Rangers (QPR) for a fee that could rise to £20m.
Eze, who scored 14 goals in 46 appearances in the Sky Bet Championship for QPR last season, had also attracted interest from Fulham, West Ham and Newcastle but has signed a five-year deal at Selhurst Park.
Palace previously had bids of £8m and £12m rejected, with QPR manager Mark Warburton making clear Eze would only leave if the club’s £20m valuation was met. The deal to secure his services is for £16m up front with £4m in potential add-ons.
Speaking, Ebere Eze insists that joining Crystal Palace is a brilliant opportunity for him as he outlined why he made the move to join the Eagles.
The 22-year-old has signed a five-year contract with Crystal Palace, becoming the club’s second arrival this summer, following on from the signing of defender Nathan Ferguson from West Bromwich Albion.
Eze has made the move from QPR after four years in west London, having made 112 appearances for the Hoops, scoring 20 goals.
Eze also won three awards last season at QPR, being named the Supporters’ Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and Junior Hoops Player of the Year as well as being shortlisted for PFA Player of the Year.
But now, he has made the move from west London to south London to join the Eagles ahead of the 2020/21 season, with Eze explaining why he feels the Palace is the right club for him.
“It was the plan and what was set out for me. It is the most in line with me and my thoughts, and that is the most important thing,” he said, speaking to Palace TV.
