Nigeria’s D’Tigress star, Murjanatu Musa, has signed for Celta de Baloncesto of Spain after several stunning performances in the Nigerian Basketball Federation NBBF-organised women’s championships.
Nojeem Igeola Hassan, Chief Executive Officer of OHN Consultancy Ltd, disclosed this to Tribunesport, adding the Air Warriors BC centre power forward is well-prepared for the new challenge.
The UK-based promoter stated that Musa’s mission is to end up in the prestigious NBA, saying she remains one of the best players in the country at the moment.
“This is a good development for Nigerian basketball. Musa, given her wealth of experience, would explore the Celta de Baloncesto move to take her career to the next level. She has the potential to play in the NBA and that remains her target as she is determined to make her impact felt in the Spanish team,” Hassan, who is the manager of the ebony basketballer told Sportingtribune.
Murjanatu was a member of D’Tigress squad which won the 2021 AfroBasket title in September in Cameroon, where she featured in most of the games.
The 21-year-old was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the season at the 2019 Zenith Women’s Basketball League, after amassing 17 points and 15 rebounds with three assists in the victory over Mountain of Fire Ministries (MFM) in the final.
The six-feet, two-inch after her secondary education at the Girls Government College, Birinin Kebbi, began her career with Air Warriors of Abuja in 2013, and became one of the star players on the domestic scene which earned a place in the national team in 2019.
Murjanatu was a member of D’Tigress squad which won the gold at the 2019 African Games held in Morocco, while she also won the bronze at the 2019 African Beach Games held in Cape Verde, before the 2021 AfroBasket accolade with a team dominated by foreign-based stars.
