Eagles’ strikers not sharp enough ―Akpoborie

Ex-international Jonathan Akpoborie has advised the technical crew of the Super Eagles led by Gernot Rohr to work more on the team’s attack ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

The three-time Africa Champions have been dependent on Odion Ighalo and Kelechi Iheanacho as an alternative striker, a situation which has failed yield better results.

Although the team qualified with a basket full of goals ahead of Cameroon, Algeria and Zambia, the former Wolfsburg striker told Soccernet.com.ng that the World Cup is a different ball game and that Rohr should search for a potent striker that would serve as a backup to Ighalo.

“I am particularly worried about the striking department considering the fact that the two international friendly matches we have played, our striker (Odion Ighalo) has been so quiet,” Akpoborie told Soccernet.com.ng

“At the World Cup, you will need a striker that would be banging the goals in order to help the team earn the massive three points.

“I just hope Rohr would work on the Super Eagles attack before the World Cup because we don’t really have any plan B aside Kelechi Iheanacho.”
