Edinson Cavani was a first-half hero at Caen as the Ligue 1 holders ran riot.
PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN ended their three week run without a win as they thrashed Caen 6-0 in Ligue 1.
Edinson Cavani was a first-half hero at Caen as he scored four goals in 45 minutes, while Lucas and substitute Jean-Kevin Augustin added in the second half.
The French champions had not won since August 21 in all competitions under new manager Unai Emery.
Cavani came close to open the scoring in the fifth minute when he caught up with Angel Di Maria’s over-head ball and fired just wide from inside the box.
Caen started ever so good and almost took the lead in the 10th minute when defender Damien Da Silva raised above Blaise Matuidi to head towards goal.
But two minutes later PSG’s front man Cavani capitalised and made it 1-0 with a tap in from range, after Lucas could not make the connection on Maxwell’s cross.
It all went terribly wrong for Caen when they conceded a penalty and allowed Cavani to double PSG’s lead in the 23rd minute.
Emery wanted a respond after drawing against Arsenal midweek in the Champions League, and Cavani was in the mood as he scored another two from both foot to make it 4-0 at the break.
Lucas scored PSG’s fifth from outside the box in the 67th minute, while Caen scoring from a set piece and again late, before Augustin concluded with a sixth 10 minutes from time.
The French champions climb to joint top of the Ligue 1 table on 10 points with rivals Monaco and Nice.
