West Ham are set to complete the signing of 36-year-old free agent and five-time Premier League title winner Patrice Evra on a short-term contract.
The former Manchester United defender, who played under David Moyes for a season at Old Trafford, arrived at the Hammers’ Rush Green complex on Wednesday morning.
Evra has been without a club since being sacked by Ligue 1 Marseille for attempting to kick a supporter, which also earned him a UEFA ban from European competitions.
He is free to play in the Premier League, however, and was expected to have no issues with passing his medical on Wednesday after keeping fit on his own.
Moyes will point to the fact that Evra brings a great deal of experience with him to West Ham.
Should Evra and Pablo Zabaleta play together as full-backs, their partnership will have seen seven Premier League titles between them. They will also have a combined age of 69.
