Brazilian icon and legendary striker Ronaldo has unveiled a new range of Nike boots to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the iconic Mercurial collection.
Ronaldo showed off the stunning collection on Thursday which included a throwback pair to blue and silver footwear he wore during the 1998 World Cup.
Along with pink, yellow and multi-coloured boots, the 41-year-old also presented the jet black set named ‘What the Mercurial’ at an event in Milan.
The blackout boots incorporate nine different designs from the Mercurial lineage spanning the last 20 years.
The boots reference Ronaldo’s original ‘wavy’ World Cup boots from 1998 along with Cristiano Ronaldo’s swoosh placement from previous editions.
Only 1,998 pairs of the ‘What the Mercurial’ boots will be sold, keeping in line with the anniversary theme.
Nike claim there are a number of benefits with wearing the boots, including a ‘micro-textured Flyknit construction that provides touch at high speeds’ and a ‘podular plate system with an internal chassis flexes for responsive traction’.
Last month, Nike also released the new Mercurial Superfly 360 boots which Cristiano Ronaldo sported during Real Madrid’s win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
