S.B.V Excelsior of Holland striker, Sophia Omotola Omidiji, has described her call-up to the senior women national team, the Super Falcons, as the proudest moment of her life, whilst admitting it has been her dream to always wear the green and white of Nigeria.
The former U-20 star, who was initially omitted from the list released by the NFF last week to face the French women national team on Friday in France, confirmed her invitation on social media and promised to always give her best when called upon.
“Honoured and proud to have gotten a call-up with the Nigerian women’s national team for the friendly against France this Friday. Will give everything I have got for the country.
“Can’t describe how this feels- it’s indescribable. Honoured and delighted to go do battle with my sisters- all deserving and amazing players that I’ve watched over the years that have all made our country proud,” Omidiji wrote.
The former KAA Gent striker further thanked everyone who has contributed to making the invitation a reality, promising not to disappoint with the opportunity.
“Dreams definitely do come true. Just a small girl from Vegas with passion for football and green-white- green running through her veins. Everyone and anybody that has ever believed in me, said something positive about me, encouraged and motivated me and contributed to this- I thank you. Truly no words to describe the feeling but to thank everyone.#superfalconsofnigeria,” Sophia Omidiji concluded.
Eight-time African Champions Nigeria, will do battle with European heavyweight France in a Grade A friendly on Friday as the Super Falcons prepare for the African Women Nations Cup qualifiers later this year.
