Spain completed a dominant 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign by lifting the trophy and collecting three of the tournament’s major individual awards following their 1-0 extra-time victory over Argentina in Sunday’s final at the New York New Jersey Stadium.
Luis de la Fuente’s side secured Spain’s second men’s World Cup title, their first since winning the tournament in South Africa in 2010. They also became the first men’s World Cup champions to concede only one goal throughout the competition.
On the 2026 World Cup awards, Midfielder Rodri was named the tournament’s best player, receiving the Golden Ball after playing a central role in Spain’s title-winning campaign.
The Manchester City star added the award to an impressive list of honours that includes the 2024 Ballon d’Or, the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA European Championship and multiple Premier League titles.
Spain goalkeeper Unai Simón claimed the Golden Glove after keeping seven clean sheets and conceding just once during the tournament. His performances were instrumental in Spain’s defensive solidity throughout the competition.
Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsà was named Best Young Player after establishing himself as one of the tournament’s standout defenders. The 19-year-old delivered a series of composed performances as Spain progressed to the title.

France captain Kylian Mbappé finished as the tournament’s top scorer with 10 goals in eight matches to win the Golden Boot.
The award made him the first player to claim the World Cup’s top scorer prize at consecutive tournaments. He also extended his record as the highest-scoring player in men’s World Cup history with 22 goals.
Although France ended the tournament in fourth place following a 6-4 defeat to England in the third-place play-off, Mbappé’s individual performances ensured he left the competition with another major accolade.
England secured the bronze medal after overcoming France in the third-place match, while defending champions Argentina finished runners-up after their defeat to Spain in the final.
The Netherlands received the FIFA Fair Play Award in recognition of their discipline and sportsmanship during the tournament.
