Former chairman of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) and chairman, Kano State Sports Commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima has said that the prevailing situation in Nigerian sports is posing a threat to the future of youths.
Galadima, speaking on Tuesday at the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected executive members of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kano State chapter, said stakeholders must rise to redeem the situation.
He however, faulted sports writers for promoting those doing more harm than good to the sector, urging sports journalists to desist from projecting those responsible for the decay in the industry.
According to him, the redemption of the unwelcome situation is incumbent on sports writers, adding that the earlier sports journalists made use of their media to address the situation, the better for the development of youths through sports.
Those elected to run the affairs of Kano SWAN are Malikawa Garu, chairman; Musibau Yan Gurasa, vice chairman; Abdulgafar Oladimeji, assistant secretary; Zahradeen Bello, treasurer and Abubakar Kwaru, financial secretary.
