Gareth Bale scores Real Madrid’s fastest-ever Champions League goal

Gareth Bale became the fastest Champions League goalscorer in Real Madrid history, netting the opener for his team at the 57-second mark against Legia Warsaw.

Real needed just 27 touches, including one intercepted pass by Legia, to put the ball in the back of the net after Cristiano Ronaldo headed the ball to the Welshman, who powered a left-footed volley home from just outside the penalty area.

The goal marks the first time Bale’s scored in consecutive Champions League games in the same season since November, 2013, after netting the opener in the reverse fixture against Legia on Oct. 19.

Bale, who later assisted on a Karim Benzema strike, now has 14 goals in 43 career Champions League games.

Real Madrid went on to draw 3-3 with Legia in the match, leaving Zinedine Zidane’s team trailing first-place Borussia Dortmund in Group F.
